ITS A NEW YEAR

And the day came

They all are pregnant with hope.

All life seems in a pause posture

All who wait, even the impatient

Joining in chorus of thankfulness

All citing divine and supernatural

Maybe we need more new years

Certainly we need daily gratefulness

It’s the first day of the year, after an extremely activated hours of waits, screams, noise and fireworks. Its now quiet and solemn, the morning is beautifully a resemblance of the previous dark though a little different. It’s a new year… Hurray

The new year has finally arrived, its with us you see, our eyes struggled through the few hours just to jump the year awake. Offcourse we have countless formalities and practices we did the countdown for the new season. Time, we speak into the future as they say, to summon the blessings and cleanse the year from the demons of the previous year. Allow a few reflections when the fireworks went mute and coloured skies drew back to black.

God counts to us a day

His mercies are new every morning is the reality that brackets our days. For God ordains the day in its full measures, the unique and wonder of each rising sun is a reality that we need to carry with us every day. The Psalmist is quick to remind us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom, so is in many accounts where our God, our maker calls to mind our days, he rarely escalates them into weeks, months or years. He brackets all this in days so that each waking moment reminds us the basic fact that the rising of the sun and its setting is a sacred space in time and I should never in its accumulation forget that it’s in the days.

As the year unfolds, I am reminded that it is a daily affair, how I live my life daily is what will cumulatively determine the year, the success or failure is ultimately on how I deal with each day that God has allowed me under the sun.

  1. Truly day by day ought to be a hurray… Every waking morning is pure mercy from the Lord Almighty. In this happy new year may I remember to celebrate happy new day with every dawn. Thanks for the reflection.
